First there was speed dating
21st May, 2007
First there was Speed Dating - now there's "Meet the Buyer". Sound titillating? That's what's on offer for suppliers to the mining and mineral processsing sector exhibiting at the QREX Queensland Resources Expo in Rockhampton this week.
Anyone managing to get an appointment with a mine procurement officer and then actually find the procurement officer in the office, knows they'have hit pay dirt. And if they are small company and manage to get into the 'Big Boys' then the profits from rivers of gold, coal, alumina, silver, copper, diamonds - you name it - begin to flash before their eyes.
The reality is, it is a hard slog trying to get to the person who not only makes the buying decision but also the one who will listen to the possible innovations that could save the miner a mint in time and productivity savings, if only they would listen.
"Well here's their big chance," says QREX Projects and Marketing Coordinator Deborah Beasley.
The "Meet the Buyer" session is proving a huge draw card for exhibiting companies who want to talk face to face with the people making the final buying decision she said. "The buyers will be there listen to your bright, product development suggestionss, new product offerings - anything you want to tell them."
